Meet Francis! This pretty girl is a 4 month old Blue Heeler/Border Collie mix. While she's feeling a little shy at the moment, she's ready to open up and meet her forever family!
Francis was brought to us alongside her two siblings (Rowdy, a brother, and her sister Chloe). They were surrendered through no fault of their own, when their mother accidentally became pregnant and their owner could not keep the pups. Francis grew up around her siblings, and while she mostly did fine, she is pretty dominant and would sometimes go after them when they upset her. We strongly recommend a meet and greet with any dogs in the home prior to adoption so you can be sure Francis would be the right dog for you. Francis has never met a cat, either. While she has met some kids in passing and did fine with them, she has never lived with kids before., Due to this, we also recommend a meet and greet with any felines or children as well.
Coming to the shelter is stressful for any animal, and Francis is no exception. She's still feeling pretty timid as she gets used to us. She's slowly starting to open up more and show her lovable personality, but it will take time to get her to trust you. Please be prepared to give Francis a little grace while she learns that your home is a safe space for her.
Being a puppy, Francis has not gotten very far in her training. She is starting to learn some basic commands like "sit," but she is not yet housebroken. She'll need an owner with the time and patience to finish her training. She is still young, though, and shouldn't give you much trouble. Francis is a mix of two breeds that are know for being intelligent. They are also know for their sass and goofy personalities. Francis is going to be a very active girl, and might not be a good fit for a homebody. She will require plenty of physical and mental stimulation to ensure she stays healthy and doesn't act up out of boredom.
