Meet Amara, our little sweetheart! Amara is a 1 year old spayed female Boxer mix. After finding herself at the shelter, she is hoping to meet the forever family that she deserves!
Amara came to the shelter right before Valentine's Day, so what better to name her than a word that means "love." Amara is ALL about the love. Once she gets to know you, you will not find a better best friend. She just wants to be by your side, giving all of the kisses.
Amara came to us as a stray and was unfortunately never claimed. At first, Amara was pretty freaked out at the loud shelter. She's a gentle soul, and the hustle and bustle of this place was making her a little nervous. It takes her a moment to warm up to new people, and she doesn't like to be rushed at. All if takes, though, is a little bit of patience (and maybe a few treats!) and she'll soon be your best bud. Once she trusts you, Amara becomes a bundle of energy. Being only a year old, she still has plenty of liveliness. Amara would thrive in a home that likes to be active and can take her along for the adventure!
Since Amara was a stray, we don't know much about her background. We don't know if she's been around other animals before. When she passes by other dogs here, she doesn't seem to mind them. We introduced her to one of our other dos, and they get along great. It does seem like very energetic dogs that are in her face constantly might overwhelm her. We have not seen her around cats or kids. We strongly recommend a meet and greet with any pets or kids in the home prior to adoption. We also are unsure of the level of training Amara has received. Her new owner will likely need to brush up on her house manners. The good news is, she's still young and is a very smart girl, so she shouldn't give you too much trouble!
