Meet Fran, the charming and stylish black collie who's looking for her match! As the 'Nanny' of the dog world, Fran runs the yard with flair and fineness. But beneath her fashionable exterior lies a complex pup who's been through a tough past. Having come from an animal abuse case, Fran needs a family who's patient, understanding, and willing to give her the time and space she needs to adjust. Fran is not completely housebroken, however she is one to learn quick and would get it down with patience and training.
This spontaneously fashionista loves to shine bright and her personality will sparkle when you take her outside into our yard to play. She's a bit of a diva when is comes to her doggy companions, so we do recommend a meet and greet with any canines in the home prior to adoptions just so we know its the perfect fit. She has not yet interacted with any cats/ children yet and we recommend a meet and greet with any in the home prior as well.
Once Fran has found her Maxwell you will find her curling up into your lap for snuggles that will melt your heart and a perfect playmate that will play fetch as long as you let her! She is a curious thing and is curious with all animals big and small that for instance she found a small bug on the ground and shown her teeth at the little thing waiting for a response. She does have a canine companion that she gets along great with that is also available for adoption named Marshall.
Be Warned: Fran is a little stressed in her kennel, surrounded by all barking and commotion. So, come meet her outside in our yard where she can show off her fetching skills and playful personality. As her arrival here at the shelter she was malnourished, With any pup whos been through trauma, Fran may require some special care at first until she adjusts. She's gentle however when it comes to mealtime, Fran likes her food to herself, so be sure to respect her boundaries. Due to this when it comes to treats, she will be too excited and accidentally nip your fingers if you dont be careful and may fight other dogs if there is food left over on the ground. She is also a herding breed and has been recently nipping at ankles when not wanting to be left alone inside her kennel. Keep this in mind when taking her home with small children as she might try to heard them or experience this behavior. This may also dissolve when she is in a comfortable environment.
