"Come Sail Away" with Styx, our charming chihuahua who's ready to set anchor in your heart!
This little rockstar may be small, but he's got a big personality and an even bigger appetite for snuggles. Styx is no regular "Blue Collar Man", and loves to be held like the king he is! Although Styx is an older pup, his age does not define him. He loves to unleash his inner child and have a blast in the yard, running circles around his favorite toys and scooping up stuffed animals - its like he's singing "Mr. Roboto" with his favorite toys!
Styx initially came to the shelter as a stray and was sadly never claimed by his owners. This means that, unfortunately, we don't know much about his past. When he first arrived at the shelter, he was pretty nervous. This is a loud and stressful place, and being only 6 pounds, Styx was definitely overwhelmed. For the first few days he didn't want to be grabbed at, but once we gave him the chance to settle in, he quickly grew into the goofy and loving guy we now know! Styx came to us in desperate need of some dental work, which will be completed before he is put up for adoption. Styx has briefly met some other small dogs here and seemed to do well with them. We also introduced him to our office cats, and he had no problem with them as well. We have not yet seen how he is around children. Due to him being timid in new surroundings, any kids should be supervised around Styx until he gets comfortable in his new home.
Styx is considered a senior dog, and with that comes the need for increased medical care. Any potential adopters will need to be willing to stay on top of Styx's health, which will include regular check ups, to ensure he is staying healthy and comfortable. Styx also isn't fully housebroken, and will have the occasional accident in his kennel if we don't get him out quickly enough.
Despite being a shelter surprise, Styx is no "radio silence" here at the shelter and has already won over our hearts of our staff with his sweet and affectionate nature, and we're confident he'll do the same for you!
