Meet Bowser, our lovable new pup at the shelter!
You can immediately see where Bowser got his name from. With that adorable squishy face, you just can't help but fall in love! Bowser is a male 2 month old puppy. Based off looks, we think he's a Bulldog/German Shepherd mix - but honestly, that is just a guess. We would be really interested to see if his future owner did a DNA test and let us know the results!
Bowser was found wandering the countryside and brought to us for safe-keeping. At first meeting, he was a little shy, and we could tell the loud shelter was overwhelming him. Given time, Bowser quickly warmed up to us, but he still has problems with strangers. Bowser has started to exhibit severe reactivity to people he doesn't know, and can't go home with just anyone. His owner will need to be someone with experience in handling reactive dogs, and will need to be willing to properly socialize and train him. Bowser is small now, but fully grown he will be a big boy, and cannot be allowed to continue acting this way. We will be requiring that anyone interested in Bowser already has a professional dog trainer lined up to help work on his reactivity.
One Bowser trusts you, he is your typical puppy! He has plenty of energy and that wonderful knack for getting himself into all sorts of trouble. He has been around other dogs and did well with them, but we have not seen him with any cats. We also have not fully introduced him to children, but we have realized he seems to get nervous around small kids, so he would not be a good fit for a home with littles.
With us guessing at Bowser's breed, we aren't sure exactly how big he will get. The size of his paws, and the fact that he's already 20 pounds at only 2 months old, lead us to believe this boy will be large when he grows up. Please keep this in mind when adopting, and consider that Bowser might not be a good apartment dog as he will likely need more space than that.
It's not often we get a dog as unique-looking as this at the shelter, so don't wait! Bowser has received his first round of vaccinations and is ready to go to his forever home! Stop by to meet Bowser today!
