I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Ford

I'm Available

***Ford is scheduled to be neutered 6/9/25***

Meet Ford, our tough new addition to the shelter!

Get ready to take Ford off-road! This rugged approximately 7 years old German Shorthair Pointer is built for adventure and loves nothing more than exploring the great outdoors.  Don't let his age fool you, - this boy is built tough and has all the energy of a much younger pup!

Ford was found as a stray and was unfortunately never claimed by his owners. This means that we don't know much about his past, including how he is with other animals. We haven't yet gotten to test him with any dogs at the shelter, but he doesn't seem to mind them when they pass by his kennel. He met one of our office cats for a brief moment and did fine with him, but we have yet to do a full introduction with any felines. We also haven't seen him out in the yard with any children, but he's never given us any indication that he doesn't like kids.

Since Ford was a stray, we can't tell for sure where he came from, but it seems like he may be used to the outdoor life. As previously mentioned, he's always happiest when he gets the chance to play in our yard. He is not yet fully housebroken, so his future owner will need to work on his training if they want him to be an indoor dog. He also doesn't seem to respond to basic commands. One thing to know about Ford is that, other than being outside, his favorite thing is soft toys! No stuffed animal is safe around this boy, and he will gleefully chew the stuffing out of his toys at the first opportunity.

After his (hopefully brief!) pit stop at the shelter, Ford is ready to get back on the road! He has received his first round of vaccinations, and is looking for a new family to call his own! If you think Ford could be the pooch for you, stop by the shelter today!
