Meet our newest little star, Sabrina!
Sabrina is the epitome of "short n' sweet"! While she is already around a year old, she's tiny for what a full-grown German Shepherd would normally be. She has to be mixed with something, as she's only 20 pounds. Despite her small stature, though, she has all of the energy you would expect from this breed! If you've been around German Shepherds, you know they act like they've drank ten cups of Espresso. Sabrina is quite the Busy Woman, and would love a family that can help her keep active.
Sabrina came to us as a stray that was unfortunately never claimed by her family. We don't know much about her past, but it seems that she has some anxiety that she needs help working through. While she's been a very sweet girl here, she can be fearful in new situations, and will panic if she gets too uncomfortable. Her owner is going to need to be able to work with her and ensure she's not getting too stressed out. With Sabrina having been a stray, we don't know if she's been around kids or other animals before. Sabrina has shown a tendency to nip, almost like she's trying to herd us, and should be supervised around kids to ensure she's not getting to rough. We did have Sabrina up in our office for a while where she got along great with our office cats. She would walk up and sniff them out but gave them plenty of space. The cats too, were comfortable around her and went about their daily routines. We recommend a meet and greet with any future siblings to ensure there's good Chemistry!
Since Sabrina was a stray, it's tough to say what level of training she's receive. It appears that she will need more, as she tends to have accidents in her kennel. She also doesn't respond to commands well, but part of that can be that she's so high energy it's hard for her to stop and listen. She will need a dedicated owner to help her get in tip-top shape. The good news is, Sabrina is a very smart dog, and shouldn't give you too much trouble!
