Meet Coco!
Coco is a three year old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. This small, silky boy is outgoing, active, and playful! He greatly enjoys going on walks and does quite well on a leash. He also has had some training in basic obedience, having learned sit, stay, and down; he also does reasonably well with recall. Coco does do well on potty skills. We were told by his original owners that he had frequent accidents in their home, however, his recent adopters said that he never had any accidents at all. They also said he was very good about scratching the door when he wanted to go outside and potty. If he has an established routine, there shouldn't be much of a problem keeping him housebroken.
Coco has been around older children before and did fine with them. He does not, however, like small kids, and gets pretty scared of them. Due to this, we will not be adopting him out to any homes with children under 10. Coco does not like cats, either, and can't go to a home with any felines. He has met a few dogs, though, and has always seemed to do well with them.
As stated, Coco is very affectionate and friendly, but he is somewhat of a watchdog when in his house. He will bark and growl at the door and at strangers coming into the home. Once he realizes they are welcome, he accepts the situation and will introduce himself to his new guests. Adopters just need to be aware of the behavior and be willing to work on it. He has never bitten at anyone or exhibited aggressive behavior towards people, and just gets a bit nervous around newcomers.
Coco enjoys being the perfect sidekick and loves going on adventures and experiencing new things. On the other end of the spectrum, Coco is pretty invested in his sleep as well, and he prefers a lot of snuggling and curling up together with you when he's ready for beddy-bye. He wants to be at your side, and would be a perfect cuddle buddy to fall asleep with at the end of each night!
Coco has already been neutered, microchipped, and given his first round of vaccinations. Now all he needs is a forever home to call his own! If interested in a sweet and handsome dog like Coco, call or stop by the shelter!!!
