Meet Turbo, our adventurous lad!
Turbo is an approximately 4 year old neutered male Border Collie/Dachshund mix. He is very aptly named due to him being a bit of a wanderer around town! Turbo was seen for weeks roaming Hays, and whenever someone tried to catch him, he had a knack for quickly escaping. Thankfully, someone was finally able to get ahold of him, and he finally has the chance at finding a safe and loving forever home!
Since Turbo was initially a stray, we don't know much about his past. When Turbo first meets you, he can be shy, but he quickly warms up to be a very loving little guy! We've introduced him to another small dog here at the shelter, and it was love at first sight! It seems like Turbo would really benefit from having a buddy in his new home, and it will likely help him adjust more quickly. We have yet to introduce Turbo to any cats or kids, though, so we recommend a meet and greet with any in the home prior to adoption.
With Turbo's history of being a wanderer, a secure yard will be Turbo is a MUST in Turb's new home. It's just not safe to let him roam, so his owner will need to be vigilant to ensure Turbo is staying where he belongs. We also aren't sure of how much training Turbo has received. We do know he isn't fully housebroken, so his owner will need to train him. With some patience and dedication, though, we know Turbo will become the perfect companion! With Turbo having been a stray we also don't know what kind of treatment he's received in the past. Certain items seem to make him nervous - for instance, he was very scared the first time we tried to put a harness on him. Turbo has never shown us any aggression, but will try to run from things that scare him. He will need an owner that can give him some extra understanding while he adjusts to his new home.
We're still getting to know this handsome boy, but one thing is clear - Turbo has so much love to give and is ready to share it with a family of his own. With patience, kindness, and a secure home, he'll blossom into the loyal companion he's meant to be. Turbo has received his first round of vaccinations and was recently neutered.
