Meet Bear - or, as we like to call him here at the shelter, our Polar Bear!
Bear is a handsome 4 year old neutered male Husky with a big heart and an even bigger sense of adventure! He was surrendered to us through no fault of his own, when his owner's worsening health led them to not be able to fully take care of him. Now, he's looking for a place to call home again!
True to his breed, Bear is quite the escape artist - always ready to explore the world around him. Because of that Bear will need a secure, fenced-in yard where he can be kept safe. In his first home before coming to us, Bear was around a multitude of other animals - dogs, cats, and livestock. He got along well with them all at that home. However, Bear was adopted but had to be returned after a fight with another dog in the adopter's home. While the cause of the fight isn't 100% known, his adopter thought it was likely due to food aggression. Because of this history, we strongly recommend a meet and greet with any dogs in the home. He will also need to be supervised around any new dogs until his owner is 100% comfortable with his behavior.
Bear needed no time at all to warm up to us at the shelter, and was immediately making friends upon coming here. We've quickly learned that his favorite game is keep away, and it's so funny to watch him duck and dodge out in the yard. Bear really is one of a kind, and we know he's going to make the right family very lucky!
Bear is looking for a family who understands his curious, adventurous spirit and will give him the love, structure, and safe space he deserves. He has received his first round of vaccinations and is ready to be back in a home where he can continue to thrive! If you think Bear could be the pooch for you, stop by and meet him today!
