Meet Brownie! Brownie is a sweet and sassy 6 month old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. He's full of energy, and is hoping to get out of the shelter soon!
Brownie came to us through no fault of his own, when his previous owner could not keep Brownie and no family members could take him long-term. Being so young still, Brownie loves to be active! We ask that his future family don't just pick him for his small size, expecting him to be calm. Prepare for a whirlwind when you take him home!
Although he's just a tad shy while he gets used to us here, Brownie is still a very loving boy. He wants nothing more than to be in on the action, and is happiest when he's by your side. Brownie's previous owner said that he's been around kids, and absolutely loved them. He really enjoys having a buddy that can keep him entertained. Please keep in mind, though, that as Brownie adjusts to your family, he might not want to be grabbed at right off the bat. He should be supervised until his new home until he can get used to all of his family members.
Brownie has only ever been around small dogs before. He did well with them, but we don't know how he does with anything larger than him. Based off his personality, we think big energetic dogs could be overwhelming to Brownie. We do not know how he is around cats. His previous owner did let us know, however, that Brownie met some chickens and absolutely did not do well with them. This could mean that he's not gonna be a good fit for any small animals like hamsters or pet birds, as well, so please keep that in mind if you're thinking of taking Brownie home.
Brownie has not received much training, and will need an owner willing to work with him. He's still a puppy, so he shouldn't give you too much trouble if you dedicate the proper time to him. He doesn't know any commands yet, and he is not housebroken. He also isn't leash trained yet. His owner did say though, that he did pretty well being in a crate when left alone.
Brownie has received his first round of vaccinations and is ready to go to his forever home! If you think this sweet boy could be the dog for you, stop by and meet him today!
