Hank is a two and a half year old Red Heeler/Australian Shepherd mix with lots of love to give! He has been given his first round of vaccinations, but he will still need to be neutered. Hank is an affectionate and curious pup who loves to play. While he's a friendly fella, he's got a bit of an independent streak, which is actually pretty endearing. He's been looking for a forever home for a while, and is ready to get out of the shelter! Hank was found by his previous owners as a stray, and they decided to surrender him when they found they didn't have enough time for him. He was then adopted from us into a home where that owner also ended up not being capable of caring for Hank. We're really hoping third time is the charm for this guy! He's been tossed around enough in his short life; please don't consider adopting unless you are fully committed to the task of dog ownership and have the devotion to truly see it through.
Hank appears to do well with dogs, cats, and children. His first time here, he had a buddy that he could go out in the yard with, and they always did great together. He does have a jumping habit, so he should be supervised around small children until he can be trained. We always recommend a meet and greet with any pets or children in the home prior to adopting, just to be sure Hank would be the right fit for your family.
Hank does know some basic commands, and has also been doing really well here about keeping his kennel clean. He will sometimes have an accident, so he might need a little bit of training to fully housetrain him when he goes home. As previously mentioned, he also likes to jump. He's not trying to hurt you - he just wants hugs! His future owner will need to train him, and watch him to make sure he isn't accidentally knocking someone over. In addition, this breed needs a lot of mental stimulation and exercise to be at the healthiest and happiest levels. We recommend doing research on Heelers and Aussies before deciding to adopt this mix! This is a really good pup, and he deserves the very best in life.
