Meet Katie!
Katie is a 1 year old female English Setter mix. We don't get Setters at the shelter often, so this is a real treat!
Katie was initially found as a stray, and sadly no one came looking for her. When she first came here, she was feeling pretty shy. She was never aggressive towards us, but she would spook if we went at her too quickly. Given a few days to adjust, though, Katie quickly warmed up! Now, she's our little ball of energy! Out in the yard, she loves to chase toys, and she will do some pretty neat tricks for treat.
Since Katie was a stray, we don't know much about her background. We've never seen how she acts around other animals or kids. While she's given us no reason to worry, we still recommend a meet and greet with any pets or kids in the home prior to adoption. We also don't know what level of training Katie has received. She's done a great job at keeping her kennel clean, and sits on command, but we haven't seen the full extent. We have noticed, though, that Katie is a very smart girl, so you can always teach her more!
