Meet Nora!
Nora is a gorgeous 2 year old Labrador/Heeler mix. She was initially part of an accidental litter, and when her and her siblings starting attacking her owner's sheep they had to find new placements. Now, she is looking for a forever home!
In her previous home, Nora was mainly kept in an outdoor pen with her siblings. Due to this, she hasn't received much training. She's been doing surprisingly well at keeping her kennel clean at the shelter, but she still has accidents and is in no way housebroken. She also doesn't know any commands. She is a very smart girl, though, and the right owner with some patience will be able to get her in tip-top shape!
Having been penned up with her siblings, Nora has developed some reactivity towards other dogs. Her owner said she was the dominant one of the group, and would often pick fights. She has some food aggression and jealousy issues when it comes to other canines. Due to this, we are requiring that any dogs in the home meet Nora prior to an adoption being completed. With her having a history of food guarding, she should be supervised around any dogs until you are 100% comfortable. She met some kids in her previous home and did well with them, but we have not seen her with any children at the shelter. We also strongly recommend a meet and greet with any children before bringing Nora home. As previously mentioned, Nora did have issues with attacking the sheep at her last home. Due to this, we will not be adopting her out to a family that wants to keep her as a farm dog with access to livestock.
Even though Nora is already 2 years old, she still has plenty of energy! Once she knows you, she is an incredibly loving girl and just wants to stick by your side. She loves to give hugs, and will wrap her paws around you so you can't leave her! She loves to play, too, and would do best with a family that has plenty of free time to keep her entertained.
