I'm ready for my new family!

Hi! My Name Is Peter

I'm Available

Meet Peter! This energetic and sweet boy is a 3 1/2 year old neutered Red Heeler mix. While he's a little shy at first impressions, he quickly becomes a very lovable pooch.

Peter was surrendered to us through no fault of his own when his owner moved and couldn't take him. He's still getting used to us at the shelter, as this place can be pretty disorienting for newcomers. He doesn't like to be rushed at, but if you sit and talk with him he'll soon be climbing in your lap! Once you have earned Peter's trust, you will not find a better friend.

Peter is housebroken and knows a couple tricks, such as sit, down, and come.  He listens well and does not tend to do naughty things like jumping fences or stealing human food.  He does have a history of digging though, and occasionally will chew on something he shouldn't.  Those are pretty routine dog issues, but owners must assess their willingness to train him regarding these tendencies.  Peter has lived with other dogs previously and did well with them. We have not, however, seen how he does around cats. We always recommend a meet and greet with potential fur-siblings to ensure they get along.

Peter would thrive in a home with an active family who will devote time to exercising both his body and mind.  This is a working breed, and they are at their best when given tasks to do.  We recommend doing a bit of research on Heelers prior to considering adding one to the family.

We hope that Peter's next stop is his fur-ever home and fam!  This good pup certainly deserves that.  If you think the aforementioned forever home may be yours, stop by to meet Peter and see if it's a match!
