Ralph was surrendered to us alongside his sister, Lauren (who has her own page on our website!). He is an approximately 4 month old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. He was a little shy when he first met us, but he is quickly warming up to us and blossoming into a very loving boy.
Ralph was found with his sister on the side of the road, and a good Samaritan rescued them to ensure they wouldn't be hurt all on their own. Their rescuer kept them safe for a couple of weeks, but could not keep the pair long term, so he brought them to us to find forever homes. Due to them originally being strays, we unfortunately don't know much about their history. At first meeting, Ralph can be pretty timid. He doesn't want to be grabbed at right away, and prefers you give him a chance to feel you out. Once he knows you, though, Ralph becomes a playful and loving little guy. He has so much personality, and he loves to show it off to his friends.
Ralph and his sister get along great with each other, and they've also gotten along great with another puppy here. We briefly introduced them to a big dog, and while they did okay, they were pretty scared of him. It will take time for Ralph to feel fully comfortable around any new siblings. We have not seen them around cats or kids. With them being shy, we don't think they'd appreciate smaller kids that are going to grab at them and not respect their space. We always recommend a meet and greet with any pets or kids in the home so you can be sure Ralph would be the right dog for you. Ralph also has not received any training. He's still young enough that he shouldn't give you much trouble, but he will need an owner with the patience to get him housebroken and obedient.
