I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Rowdy

Meet Rowdy, one of our cutest fellas at the shelter!

Rowdy is a 5 month old Blue Heeler/Border Collie mix. He's active and super lovable. Rowdy came to us alongside his two sisters, who have since been adopted. They were surrendered to us through no fault of their own. They were the result of an accidental pregnancy, and their owner just couldn't keep all of the pups. So, now Rowdy is here looking for his forever home!

From the jump, Rowdy has been super social here at the shelter. Typical of a heeler, he's very high energy, and is happiest when someone can take him out in the yard and help him run his wiggles out. Being so young, he doesn't sit still for long, and would be best in a home with the time to keep up with him.

Rowdy, still being a puppy, has not gotten very far in his training. While he is learning to sit on command, that's about all he knows. He is not housebroken, and still jumps on people. He is young enough that he shouldn't give you much trouble with training, but it will just take some dedication to get him to a good point. If you've ever been around this breed, you know that they are known for their intelligence - however, they're also known for having a little sass. Their personalities are part of what makes you love them, but they sometimes require more patience than other dogs. These breeds are also known for being high energy, and will need owners that can help them stay active so they aren't misbehaving out of boredom.

Rowdy grew up around his littermates and got along well with them. He was, however, previously adopted from us and returned for being too dominant with one of their other dogs. For now, we are requiring that he meet any potential doggie roommates before going home. We think Rowdy could be dog selective, and could do fine with some personalities but not others.  Having a meet and greet with any dogs in his future environment will help ensure that it is a good fit for Rowdy, his humans, and the other dogs.  So far, he seems to do decent around cats.  While Rowdy has met some kids in passing and did fine with them, he has not spent any long amount of time with children. Rowdy is still a puppy, and with proper training and socialization he likely would be able to adjust to new circumstances.

Rowdy has received his first rounds of vaccinations and is ready to go home! If you think this pup could be the one for you, stop by and meet him today!
