Meet Shadow! This pretty little gal is a 7 month old Black Lab/PitBull mix. She recently came to the shelter as a stray, and is hoping to find her forever home very soon!
One weekend, a car full of animals pulled up to the shelter! Shadow and her sister Chancey, along with a cat we named Saucy, has apparently been wandering together near the highway. We aren't sure if maybe their favorite movie is Homeward Bound and they were just trying to recreate the adventure, but we couldn't resist naming them after the characters of the film.
Shadow is a very active and sweet pup. She doesn't seem to know how to slow down, and just wants to go go go all day! Shadow would love a family with plenty of time to keep her moving so she can stay happy and healthy. She doesn't seem to have much training, as she isn't housebroken and doesn't respond to commands. She is still plenty young, though, and a dedicated owner should have no problem showing her the ropes!
Shadow gets along great with her sister, and also got along well with the cat she was brought in with. We have yet to introduce her to any other animals, though, and we have not seen how she is around kids. Shadow does have a major problem with jumping, and hasn't learned yet that it hurts when she plays too rough. She's not trying to cause damage, but when she jumps she's known to scratch pretty bad on accident. Shadow should be supervised very carefully if she is around young children until she can learn to keep all four paws on the ground. We always recommend a meet and greet with any pets or kids in the home prior to adoption so you can be sure she's the right fit for you.
