Meet Kazoo! This active and playful pup is a nine month old neuter Pointer/Lab mix. He's a very fun-loving pup, and is ready to find a new home!
Kazoo came to us after sadly being dumped in the countryside, but thankfully some kind souls found him and kept him safe until he could be brought to the shelter. Because of this, we unfortunately don't know much about his past. What is very clear is that Kazoo must have had some rough experiences during his short life. He was very nervous when he first came here, and didn't want us to mess with him too much. It took a couple of days for Kazoo to get comfortable, but once he got to know us, it was like he turned into a whole new dog! Kazoo is now a very active pup, who loves to chase us around the backyard. He's still young, and is a mix of two active breeds, so he will need an owner that likes to be on-the-go and can include Kazoo in those adventures!
We don’t know if Kazoo has lived with other animals before. We have introduced him to other dogs here, and he loves them! However, Kazoo does have some issues respecting personal space. He just wants to wrestle all the time, and even if the other dog is tired Kazoo doesn’t know how to stop. He might not be a good fit for homes with dogs that like their personal space. We’ve noticed a similar issue with cats. He’s not aggressive towards them, but he really wants their attention, and doesn’t know how to back off when they get upset. Kazoo will need to be watched in his new home to ensure he’s respecting the boundaries of his siblings.
Kazoo is not yet trained, and will need an owner that will work with him. He is not housebroken at all, and also needs some major work on his recall. The good news is, he is still young, and is a very smart guy, so he shouldn't give you too much trouble! As previously mentioned, Kazoo will also need an active household. He's not the kind of dog that will be happy bored at home all day, and would love a family that can keep him moving.
