Meet Zack, the first half of our Zack-Cody duo! Zack is a 1 year old male Australian Shepherd mix. After finding himself at the shelter, he is now looking to meet his forever family!
Zack and his brother were found as strays, and had been loose for a few days. A kind neighbor looked after them and eventually brought them here to hopefully locate their owners. Unfortunately, no one came forward to claim them, so they are now looking for forever. For the first few days, Zack was pretty scared here. The shelter is a very loud and stressful place, and it can take a bit for new dogs to adjust. Zack was super sweet throughout, and was just a little shy as he got used to us. Already, his true personality is starting to shine through - an active, loving, and energetic dog who is desperate to meet his new best friend!
Since Zack was a stray, we don't know much about his background. While he gets along great with his brother and hasn't shown any issues towards other dogs when he passes them, we have not introduced him to any others yet. We also haven't formally introduced him to any cats, but he was extremely focused on our office cats when he briefly met them. We strongly recommend a meet and greet with any pets in the home prior to adoption. We also have not seen how he interacts with children. He's been a huge sweetheart to everyone here, but with him still being a bit nervous, he likely won't like if children are running at him or grabbing at him. We recommend a meet and greet with any kids as well, and that Zack be supervised in his new home until he fully adjusts.
With this mix of being an Aussie and being young still, Zack is going to be an active dog. He has a lot of energy, and he won't be happy just sitting at home all day. If you're looking for an exercise buddy to keep you entertained all day, then Zack is your guy! We also don't know what level of training he has received. Aussies are known for their intelligence, so he shouldn't give you too much of a struggle with further training.
