Meet Cody, the second half of our Zack Cody duo! Cody is a 1 year old male Australian shepherd. Cody is a fun-loving guy who is hoping to find a forever home very soon!
Cody and his brother were found as strays and had been roaming for at least a few days. Some good Samaritans took them in and made sure they were okay before bringing them to us to hopefully locate their owners. Unfortunately, no one came forward to claim them, so they are now on the market for new homes. Cody is a huge sweetheart, but if feeling a little nervous at the shelter. This is a loud and stressful place, and Cody just needs some time to adjust. He's never shown us any aggression or meanness, and just prefers that you let him come to you first.
Since Cody was a stray, we don't know much about his background. He gets along great with his brother, and hasn't shown any aggression when passing by our other dogs, but we have not introduced him to anyone else yet. We don't know if he's lived with cats before, but when he met our office cats, he was very focused on them. We strongly recommend a meet and greet with any pets in the home prior to adoption. We also don't know if Cody has been around children before, either. He's been incredibly sweet here at the shelter, but keep in mind that as he adjusts to your home, he likely won't want little ones to be running at or grabbing him until he is comfortable. We recommend a meet and greet with any children in the home as well.
While Cody is being chill for now while he adjusts to the shelter, he's already starting to open up and show us his playful personality. Aussies are known for being high-energy, and Cody is still young enough to have some puppy in him. He's going to need an owner with the time to make sure he stays active. We also don't know, due to him initially being a stray, how trained Cody is. Aussies are typically very intelligent dogs, so he shouldn't give you too much trouble with training.
