Meet our gorgeous girl, Heather!
Heather is a one year old Shepherd/Border collie mix. She was found as a stray wandering out in the country. A kind soul took care of Heather for a couple of days hoping to locate an owner, but when nobody came forward they brought this sweetheart to us to find forever homes.
Despite this sad beginning of the tale, Heather doesn't let it get her down! Heather is an energetic, playful, and loving pup. She's still young enough to have a puppy personality, and as such she's going to need an owner that has the free time to dedicate to her. We aren't sure what level of training she has received. She does a good job of keeping her kennel clean, but still has occasional accidents. She is a mix of two high-energy breeds, and as such will need plenty of exercise to stay happy and healthy. Heather does not do well being crated, though. She was initially adopted but sadly had to be returned due to her constantly busting out of her metal kennel. Heather doesn't like to be cooped up, and might do well as a farm dog, or with a family that has a large yard for her to play in.
We have noticed that Heather is very dominant towards her sister. She also is starting to show signs of food aggression. We are requiring that any canines already in the home come to meet Heather before we approve an adoption so we can be sure it is a good match. We have introduced Heather to our office cats, and she was actually pretty afraid of them, and just tried to avoid them when possible. We have not yet seen how Heather is around kids. We recommend bringing the whole family out to meet Heather before taking her home.
