Meet Gizmo! This handsome boy is a 1 and a half year old neutered Domestic Longhair cat. While he's pretty nervous at finding himself suddenly at the shelter, we're just waiting for him to come out of his shell so he can find a forever home!
Gizmo was surrendered to us through no fault of his own when his previous owner's landlord discovered they had a pet. Unfortunately, they couldn't keep him on the property, so they brought him to us to find a better fit. Now, as we mentioned, Gizmo is taking some time to get used to us here. The shelter is a very loud and stressful place, and oftentimes it takes cats a little bit to feel comfortable. He's starting to warm up to us, and it'll just take a little extra patience! (Pro-tip: come armed with wet food, and Gizmo will love you a lot quicker!)
Gizmo's previous owner said that, when he was in a home, he did well with strangers. It's likely that this environment is just making him nervous, and once he's in a home he'll mellow out again. He has not been around other animals, so we strongly recommend a meet and greet with any pets in the home prior to adoption. We also are not sure how he is around kids. It might be that, once he feels safe again, he could do well around kids. However, with him being so nervous right now, we don't think he'd be a good fit around kids that can't respect his space.
