Meet Gizzy, our fiery senior!
Gizzy is a 9 year old spayed female Domestic Shorthair cat. With her beautiful calico coat, she has no problem catching the eye of potential adopters! Gizzy came to the shelter through no fault of her own when her owners had to move out of state and could not bring all of their pets along. Now that she's safely landed here, she is looking for a forever home where she can live her golden years in peace!
Gizzy is getting older, and as such she can be a bit particular. She's been a very sweet and gentle girl typically, but she will let you know if you're pushing her boundaries! Gizzy doesn't like to be told where she can lay, and once she's picked her spot she will be very upset if you move her. She does, however, LOVE some good snuggles, and will happily rub up against your hand while you give her affection. Gizzy does prefer a quieter and calmer environment, and likely wouldn't enjoy living in a house with too much excitement going on. She does okay with some cats, but doesn't really like dogs or kids. Again, she just knows what she wants, and she doesn't have the time for all these young'ins disturbing her beauty rest! Gizzy would do best with an owner that just wants a buddy to hang out with all day, and is content to relax together in peace. Gizzy is declawed, so for her own safety she cannot be allowed to go outside as she can't defend herself if anything comes after her.
One of the first things you may notice about Gizzy is that she's a big girl! While we think she's gorgeous no matter what size she is, it isn't healthy for her to be this weight. Her owner will need to keep Gizzy on a diet, and work with a veterinarian to ensure this girl is living a healthy lifestyle. With the proper care, you can greatly extend her lifespan and make sure you have plenty of time to love on her!
It's always tough to see senior pets come to the shelter and watch day after day while the younger animals find their forever homes. We are hoping that Gizzy won't have to share this fate, and will soon meet her perfect match! If you think that could be you, and you're interested in meeting this lady, then stop by to see Gizzy today!
