**Howie and his brother, Kris, are considered a bonded pair and must be adopted out together.**
Meet Howie! Howie is a five year old neutered Domestic Long Hair. This oh-so-handsome kitty has a very unique look with his adorable sideburns and has an equally special soul to match!
Howie is a sweet boy, but he can be timid at first and gets overwhelmed by new environments and people. He does warm up fairly readily, though, and once he does, he adores his peeps and can't get enough attention! He is a talker and will softly mew to you to get your notice. He loves to be petted and especially loves getting his ears "squished." Howie isn't the biggest fan of being held, though, and prefers to go at his own pace. He isn't exactly a lap cat but does enjoy proximity, preferring to lay beside people's legs in a recliner.
Despite being a bit skittish, Howie has never showed us aggression. He just tends to hide and needs an extra moment to feel fully comfortable. Howie has never lived with children or other animals with the exception of his littermate. Due to this and his overall personality, we believe Howie would thrive the most in a low traffic environment without a lot of commotion or changes. While Howie generally does well with his litter box, he does sometimes fail in this regard. This seems to be particularly true if clothing and other items are left around on the floor, tempting him to potty on them. He would do best in a household that is very tidy and organized to help keep in line with his litter box habits as much as possible, as well as a family who is tolerant and understanding about cleaning up messes from time to time. Howie isn't huge on playing with toys, and prefers to have bonding time with his favorite people. Howie is also a HUGE foodie, so treats will go a long way in winning this boy's heart!
An important thing to note about Howie is that he has been diagnosed with gingivostomatitis. This resulted in him needing a few teeth extracted, so you might notice that his tongue can poke out of one side. This condition isn't one that requires daily medication or anything like that, but he will need regular check-ups with a veterinarian to ensure he is staying healthy. This is an added expense, so please be aware of his needs and only consider adopting if that is something you can provide. His brother, Kris, has the same condition, and it doesn't affect their quality of life as long as their owner stays on top of it. With his longer fur, Howie also may require some assistance in keeping himself groomed.
As briefly mentioned, Howie does have a littermate, Kris. Kris was surrendered along with Howie, and they are looking for a home together. These precious boys are very bonded, and it is felt that it would be detrimental to split them up. We are requiring that they be adopted out together, but there is a discount for getting two animals at once!
Both brothers are already neutered and have had their first round of vaccinations as well. If you're looking for a duo, you won't find a sweeter set of cats out there! Stop on by any time to meet them and see if it's a match!
