Get ready to meet the adorable kitten with the heart of a warrior - Valkyrie!
Valkyrie is an 8 week old Domestic Long Haired kitten. She's pretty much what you would expect for a cat of her age - she's playful, with the knack for getting into trouble that kittens are known for. Soon, she will be searching for a forever home!
Valkyrie was quite a surprise here at the shelter. One morning, our boss heard meowing in the bushes. Lo and behold, this little gal was lurking outside our front doors! She put up quite the fight, not wanting to be caught, but we were eventually able to bring her safely indoors. Surprisingly, once we got here in the shelter, her personality did a complete 180 - instead of the ferocious little fighter from outside, she was a very loving and gentle kitten. Immediately, she just wanted to be held and adored. The shock doesn't end there, though - one of our employees actually recognized this kitten! Turns out Valkyrie was a stray cat that our employee had been helping to take care of, and had an unfortunate habit of climbing up underneath cars. Valkyrie must have accidentally hitched a ride to the shelter, and found herself at our doors!
As mentioned, now that Valkyrie is safely inside, she is such a lovable kitten. She's curious and playful, and just loves to explore. We've introduced her to our kitten room, and she dopes great with her buddies in there. We have yet to see her around dogs or kids, though, so we recommend a meet sand greet with the whole family to ensure a perfect fit!
Immediately upon meeting Valkyrie, we could see something was up with her left eye. It's very cloudy, and looks like there may be an injury to the eyeball. We have put her on medications to try to see if the situation can be improved, but it looks like she may be permanently blind in that eye. With time, the eye might heal enough that she can see light and movement out of it, but it will never be 100%. Due to this, we will only be adopting her out to a home that will keep her strictly indoors for her safety.
