Lonely Hearts Club Members are animals that have been at HSHP for over 30 days. In an effort to help them find homes, we have discounted their adoption fees!
While we are a no kill shelter and will not euthanize for space, it is not healthy for these animals to sit in a shelter setting for too long. Most animals will begin to decline in mental happiness which leads to physical deterioration. Some animals will begin to lose weight, hurt themselves trying to get out of their kennel, develop barrier reactivity, joint issues from being on concrete. We hate so see animals go through this horrible transition in life and want to do what we can to find them homes sooner rather than later.
PLEASE NOTE: SOME OF THESE ANIMALS MAY ALREADY BE ADOPTED!
This page can sometimes fall behind on adoptions that have already taken place during the week. Please make sure you look at the Adoptable Animals tab at the top to see if a certain Lonely Heart Member has been adopted or not! You can also give us a call or email to double check as well!

Meet Marley! Marley is a 1 year old, spayed female, German Shepherd / Labrador mix. Marley was previously owned by an elderly person and could not keep up with the high energy Marley has.
Marley definitely needs a home with routine and structure. She can become a little more hectic if she is in a setting that is unpredictable (like the shelter). She is very sweet and smart. She would make a great project for someone who is willing to work on her training. Once she gets through a training routine, she is going to be an amazing and loyal pooch!
Marley does get along with dogs that are smaller than her and not so rough. She does prefer to be the one in charge and would do better in a home with submissive dogs. She has not been tested with cats yet and we are not sure how she will do with them.
We would prefer Marley not go to a home with small children as she can be a bit too much at the moment and may knock them down.
Marley just needs someone to see past her shelter jitters and see the potential she has!

Meet Lucas! Lucas is a 3 year old, neutered male Shepherd mix.
THE CUTEST PUPPY FACED BOY!
Lucas is one of the staff favorites

Meet Waylon! Waylon is a 7 year old, neutered male, Boxer/Coonhound mix!
Waylon came to HSHP after his previous owners had a new baby join the family. Unfortunately, Waylon doesn't know how fragile babies are and was a little too excited around them. He does like children and would do great in a home with some that are older than toddler age.
Waylon is a wonderful dog and we were told he is housetrained, as well as great with sit, down, shake, and stay. He has lived with and been around other dogs and has gotten along with them. He has not been around many cats before and we do not know how he would do living with them.
Waylon is your typical Boxer and is goofy and bouncy. He does have a tendency to pull on his leash if he is overly excited about certain situations. He is also your typical Hound and has the boisterous hound bark that he belts out when he is upset or excited. Waylon is a huge lover boy and will make sure to get you attention every chance he gets!
This stunning boy just needs to find a family who is okay with a dog that has some excitement prone tendencies. He has been absolutely loving since he has arrived and will make a great addition to his next home! If you think Waylon could be the dog for you, stop by and meet him today!

Meet Angus! Angus is around 5 years old and is a pure bred Great Pyrenees! He is neutered!
This amazing big boy joined HSHP after his original owner passed away and he had no where else to go... When Angus first arrived at the shelter, he was very nervous and timid. His whole life had been upended and as always, the shelter is a very scary place for any dog to be. Angus is now more at ease and very happy to call HSHP his temporary home! He absolutely loves his comfortable beds and is usually found snoozing away the day. Despite being kept primarily outdoors his whole life, Angus has done a great job keeping his kennel clean. Now we cannot say for sure he is completely housebroke, but it does appear that he will do just fine.
Angus gets along great with kitties and other dogs! He has lived around children and done well them also! Angus can be very frightened during certain situations such as going to the vet. When he does get frightened he can become a little nippy. Now, he is very slow about this and has not actually nipped anyone, but it should be noted and when he does have to go to the vet it would be wise to pass that information along.
Angus loves to romp around the yard and can be rather independent at times. But one thing for sure is, he is a very gentle boy who just wants to exist happily!
